Day 4 Now With Pictures!

Posted in Personal Update, WoW on July 31st, 2009 by Matthew Carlton

Yesterday the ladies got massages and we ate sushi!  We then headed to downtown Indianapolis, walked around and hit a gift shop before heading to the Circle Center Mall.  After that we headed to Jillians, the staff seemed to be annoyed we were there so we packed up and went to Dave and Busters which was by far a better experience!  After we went for pizza and followed it up with Cold Stone!  We went back to the house to relax and wait for Davis to arrive, once he got here we played Phase10 some more and got to phase 7 before we had to crash for the night.

Today we’ll be hanging around the house and waiting for Rob, Sean, and Nate!

Day 3

Posted in Random Things, WoW on July 30th, 2009 by Matthew Carlton

Yesterday Snow arrived in early afternoon and we decided to grab a bite to eat at White Castle as some of the crew hadn’t been there before.  It was good, but good gravy it really can mess with your stomach.

After we took a stroll around downtown Carmel, IN we headed to Best Buy so I could pick up some new music.  We then came back to the house and played Beautiful Katamari for many hours until the ladies broke and made meatballs and spaghetti, it was fab!  We then headed out to the Brockway Public House and enjoy some night air, beverages, and conversation.

On the tap for today:

  • The ladies are getting massages
  • Lunch at Ocean World Sushi
  • Downtown Indianapolis
  • Dave and Busters in Castleton

The Start of Day 2!

Posted in WoW on July 29th, 2009 by Matthew Carlton

Yesterday, we picked up Nick and Becky at the airport and headed to our house, we decided to then go out for wings and what not at BW3’s!  We gave them a quick tour of the local area and came home.  We then made our way to the back porch and played some Barrel of Monkeys (not as easy as you think) and Phase 10.  I think we got to phase5 at some point, but we just got lost in the conversation.

On our list for today:

  • Breakfast from Longs Bakery as it’s a true authentic Indianapolis favorite
  • Wait for Brian to get here!
  • Site see

iPhone App: Remote

Posted in Music, iPhone on July 26th, 2009 by Matthew Carlton

Someone I work recommended that I install the app Remote this past week, at the time I was using my iPod Touch.  As I posted yesterday my wife and I changed carriers and we each picked up a 16GB iPhone G3 S.

It’s time to accessorize, let’s talk apps.

Remote is very nice, it’s a simple app that allows you to control your iTunes library from your iPhone or Touch.  It also allows others on your network browse your library and listen.  It will apparently also work with Apple TV, but I can’t speak on that.  I’m not touching on every aspect of the app, those interested in it should download the FREE app it and try it out!

Muse: United States of Eurasia

Muse

Muse

Well, I was taken by surprise yesterday when I found out Muse was “deploying” a new song from their forth coming album The Resistance. What I mean by deploying is the fact they’ve been letting fans play a puzzle to unlock various parts of the song. Today was phase 6 of 6, and now the whole song is out. I’m sure you can now Google the song and or look it up on Youtube and listen.

I’d say it’s a good song, it has me looking forward to the September 14th release, while that is the only date I can find at the moment I’m guessing it’s the UK date, I’m still trying to find the official US date. The song is a slow piano laden song that builds upon itself with Queen like vocals.

I feel like I need to read 1984 again.

Muse – United States of Eurasia:

You and me are the same
We don’t know or care who’s to blame
But we know that whoever holds the reins
Nothing will change
Our cause has gone insane

And these wars, they can’t be won
And these wars, they can’t be won
And do you want them to go on
And on and on
Why split these states
When there can be only one?

And must we do as we’re told?
Must we do as we’re told?

You and me fall in line
To be punished for unproven crimes!
And we know that there is no one we can trust;
Our ancient heroes, they are turning to dust!

And these wars, they can’t be won
Does anyone know or care how they begun?
They just promise to go on
And on and on
But soon we will see
There can be only one

United States!
United States!
Of…

Eurasia!

Technology sucks.

Posted in Uncategorized on July 9th, 2009 by Matthew Carlton

Technology sucks, especially when you’re working on about 9 to 10 year old technology. We’re running Active Directory 2000, and while we’re planning an upgrade beginning at the end of the year … it just can’t get her fast enough. I’m particularly having problems with Group Policy and while most people don’t get two poops what that is, it’s troublesome when things just won’t work and the best info you can sometimes get is: Upgrade.

All in all, what can you do? We have a large environment and processes take time. I’m letting off steam because well, I need to.

Yikes, time to get back at it.
